Summary
Dr. Ean Miller, PharmD, BCPPS and Dr. Melissa Gervase, PharmD, BCPPS, AE-C will conduct a 1 – hour knowledge-based continuing education webinar program. This program will highlight current practice guidelines as well as recent literature on the management of pediatric diabetic ketoacidosis. Drs Miller and Gervase will help pharmacists navigate the treatment options and how best to serve these patients.
Learning Objectives:
At the end of this session, participants will be able to:
1. Describe the pathophysiology, diagnostic features, and potential complications of pediatric and adolescent diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA)
2. Evaluate recent evidence based literature regarding insulin, fluid, and electrolyte therapies to prevent and manage complications of pediatric and adolescent DKA
3. Demonstrate how national guidelines were adapted and implemented to improve quality outcomes of pediatric and adolescent DKA management at a single-center tertiary care pediatric institution
4. Formulate treatment regimens for pediatric and adolescent DKA cases of varying complexity transitioning through emergency department and pediatric intensive care settings

PPAG has accredited this knowledge-based webinar for 1.0 contact hours (0.10 CEUs) of continuing education credit for pharmacists. UAN #: 0180-0000-19-008-H01-P.
The Pediatric Pharmacy Advocacy Group is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. In order to receive credit, participants must register for the program, attend the program, and fill out a post-program survey. Webinar programs are 100% supported through program registration fees and PPAG membership dues, and is not supported by Industry.
BCPPS Recertification Credit is also available for PPAG members if you select that pricing option during registration. Participants will be required to complete an evaluation and pass an exam in order to receive their certificate. Once the exam is passed, participants will receive 1 hour BCPPS credit. Valid through February 4, 2020.
